Sabre Corporation has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Abacus International, the leading global distribution system (GDS) in the Asia-Pacific region.

Sabre currently owns a 35% stake in the company, along with a consortium of 11 Asian airlines namely All Nippon Airways, Cathay Pacific, China Airlines, EVA Airways, Garuda Indonesia, Dragonair, Philippine Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Royal Brunei Airlines, SilkAir and Singapore Airlines.

It is set to buy the rest of the stakes for net cash consideration of $411 million.

The move is set to combine the global capabilities of Sabre with the localised expertise of Abacus, giving customers more innovation and service options, and allowing Sabre to grow globally while maintaining regional synergies with travel management companies, airlines and hospitality companies.
