PRODUCT REVIEW: United Airlines B787 Dreamliner

By 29 April 2015March 3rd, 2022News, Product Review

CT Connections was invited to inspect the new United Airlines’ B787 Dreamliner, now operating a daily service MEL-LAX-MEL.

Here’s a review from National Manager – Supplier Partnerships, Dean Easton:

The forward cabin has the bulk of the business class (called “Business First®”) seating with five rows of six seats, the second cabin is smaller and contains three rows of six seats and holds Economy seats (consisting of Economy and Economy Plus).

United’s new Dreamliner can carry 252 passengers, with 48 business class seats in a 2-2-2 configuration. The seats recline into a full flat-bed with its own video screen, laptop power and USB power.

The Economy Plus cabin follows next with 88 seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, with standard Economy at the rear of the aircraft seating 116 passengers.

Economy Plus provides travellers with an additional 3” of legroom, up from the 32” offered in Economy. Premier Mileage Plus members enjoy complimentary access to Economy Plus subject to availability.

All Economy Plus and Economy seats are fitted with an adjustable headrest and a 22.8cm personal screen, with AC power sockets shared between seats.

The Dreamliner is a “dream” to fly on long-haul flights with lower effective cabin altitude, higher humidity and fresher air to help combat jet-lag.

It’s a great new product and a fantastic option for clients flying the Trans-Pacific route.

The daily service departs Melbourne at 9.15am to reach Los Angeles at 6.45am the same day while the return flight leaves LAX at 10.30pm to touch down into Melbourne at 8.15 two days later.
